We were given a set of red Studio Edition Beats to put to the test. So… what is it that makes these ever so popular headphones stand out from the rest?

Lets start off with the slick design. The silk finish gives these headphones a high-gloss shine that can be spotted a mile away and of course the ‘B’ Logo on the side gives them a distinctive ‘I can’t hear you’ vibe, as well as acting as a mute button.

And yes it is true… powered by AAA batteries, these monsters really do amplify the music and block out all background noise, giving you powerful, intense sound regardless of which device you choose to use them with- (be it a PC, iPhone, Blackberry or a PS Vita). Sheer quality.

The headphones doesn’t work unless theirs triple AA batteries in them so you might find yourself spending batteries within the year unless you get rechargeable ones.

After testing them on my PC, Blackberry 9900 and my PS Vita, Beats By Dre definately do demonstrate share quality when it comes to listening to sound through the headphones. The volume can go really loud but I don’t think anyone has a deaf wish.

Not happy with the fact that you have to put triple AA batteries in the Beats By Dre headphones for them to work considering spending over £150 for the headphones but I guess in compensation for it you get a bass vibration on the headphones which is slick. If your also looking to make yourself deaf then you can crank up the volume right to the top! You could always use rechargeable batteries but for me, I think that’s too much for headphones.

The ear cups are particularly comfortable, covered with ultra soft breathable materials. And to top it off, the headphones are lighter than you might think by just looking at them.

The downside is that they do not work without triple A’s. This means that additional to the £150 plus that it will cost you to invest in a pair of Beats By Dre, you are looking at buying batteries every couple of days or investing in rechargeable ones.

However, the compensation for what might seem like a bit of an OTT procedure, is that you are provided with a bass vibration that will definitely keep you smiling.

Battery duration time is decent and can last a day or so depending on what batteries you put in them (try going for a duracell brand).

Making an appearance in her native New York for her comeback album, this week female rapper Lil’ Kim revealed her new face to her adoring public as she arrived at MTV Studios to film Rap Fix Live. Bright lights, winter winds and loads of people. Where could I be? Only in the busy life with human traffic of people questing to go night clubs in the infamous Trafalgar Square, London.

The night is bright and wondering how I got here. No money, No home, No future. The only thing I gasp is talent. Talent to entertain by passers and put in money in this hat that lays infront of me while I wait outside Mcdonalds for that one chance to make a dream a reality. But am I dreaming? Can you really make it from just talent alone?

A bypasser gave me a business card. It said ‘Street Starz TV – Home for upcoming Talent’. I said to the man with the rocksack,

Me: Whats your name?
The guy: Justin Nelson, Founder of Street Starz TV
Me: Can you help me reach the stars?
Justin: (Laughs) no but I can help build a platform for you by filming you. Whats your talent?
Me: I can do street dancing?

As I proceed to stand up from the ground, Justin gets out his camera from his bag and sets it up. I was alittle nervous about doing this on camera as I’m camera shy but this was my only chance to shine infront of a camera.

Justin signals that hes ready to film and people stop by as a bright light from Justin’s camera films me. I begin to start doing my dancing moves and at first, I was shaky and in doubt of my ability because I’ve never performed infront of a camera before but as I got into it, my troubled doubt turned into a smile of joy. As seconds moved on, more and more people stopped in groups to circulate the main attention on the street which was me. Justin then stopped me and said ‘Look, heres a business card to a local Street Dancing event. You need to be there if you want to pursue you career. You have talent in what you do, make sure you pursue it and dont waste it’. My excitement was uncontrollable at this present time as it felt like someone was giving me a future’.

I replied and said to Justin ‘What are you going to do with the filming you done of me dancing’?. Justin replied ‘Upload it to Youtube and show the world’. My heart felt like it skipped a beat. A man helping me for no reason but because he believes in me. As Justin smiles and walks off I stop him by shouting out ‘My name is Freda’. Justin smiled and said ‘Nice to meet you Freda. Hope to see you on TV soon. I know you can do it because I believe in you and your skills. Your a born natural’. Justin gave me another card in which he said I will need for when I want to promote myself or use printing services. I glance down and the business card said in bold letters ‘SOLOPRESS’. As my future begins to shape, I pick up my small bottle of money I have and get ready to sharpen my skills for the Street Dancing event that Justin spoke about.

…Because of his choice of dance moves! Justin, who is half way through the UK leg of his tour, was turned away from swanky Manchester nightclub Sankeys on Thursday night because they disapproved of his signature shuffle. They wrote on their official Twitter page -

This past year has been amazing for introducing so many artists as well as bringing back to the forefront those UK who are already established and off showing off their talent to the music world and The Brits Awards 2013 did a great of honouring those most deserving of recognition for all their hard work.

The two big winners of the night were Emeli Sande who took the prize for British Female Solo Artist and MasterCard British Album of the Year for Our Version of Events, and Ben Howard who scooped the gongs for British Male Solo Artist and British Breakthrough Act.

Other winners on the night included Lana Del Ray, Frank Ocean and Adele who won British Single for Skyfall. In her recorded acceptance speech (she was busy in LA rehearsing for The Oscars!) she poked fun at last years Brit bosses who cut off her acceptance speech when she won British Album, saying ‘I don’t want to keep you too much because I don’t want to interrupt the best album speech at the end of the night’.
